"Dances of Love, Laughter & Loss"

Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater restages this acclaimed two-part performance for the intimacy of Live Arts Fest. Both works embrace text and utilize spoken word in collaboration with movement.

"The Atlantic Man" is based on a radio play by French writer and filmmaker Marguerite Duras. The passionate and moving text focuses on memories, absen ce, love and longing. With simple language, the text encourages the reader to ebb and flow with the tides of the Atlantic.

"I thought all that was left to me of you was a hesitant memory." -Duras

"Pillow: Case" features original text by Meagan Marshall. This light hearted series of miniature, often humorous, dances are inspired by 45-year-old pillow cases and by the people who have slept on them. Marshall, a UCSD alumni, is currently teaching creative writing at both San Diego City College and SDSU.

"Ladies and gentlemen: the stories you are about to hear are true. Well, kind of... The names have been changed to protect the innocent... and the guilty." -Marshall

All choreography is by Jean Isaacs, who taught dance at UCSD for 25 years. Patrons can expect a sexy, smart evening of choreography featuring video/multi-media and live music featuring piano by Steve Baker. Danced by the professional dancers of San Diego Dance Theater.
